NifC Overview



New Idea for Citizenship is a charity organization working with the urban poor in Kampala’s Makindye Division. The mission of NifC is to serve as a development focus for the urban poor living in Makindye Division of Kampala by working to promote people’s self determination through multiple programs aimed at advancing people’s lives. NifC believes that a community will evolve only when people control their destiny.

NifC Programs

1.      Knowledge management
Collecting, verifying, documenting and creating space for the sharing of information and know -how for best practices among self-help groups. NifC serves as a clearing house for best practices as well as propagating useful peer learning that build the self help sector. NifC also provides groups with information pertaining to opportunities available locally and globally and links community groups to opportunities.  NifC has also founded an elementary school for poor urban children known as Great Valley Children’s Centre.
